As the Delta strand of cases increases, Cook County is currently at a “substantial” level of community transmission as reported by CDC - CDC COVID Data Tracker. CDC recommends that to reduce the risk of becoming infected with the Delta variant and potentially spreading it to others, that fully vaccinated people wear a mask in public in indoor settings if they are in an area of substantial or high transmission. Although the CDC states that infections happen in only a small portion of people who are fully vaccinated, even with the Delta variant, evidence suggest that fully vaccinated people who do become infected with the Delta variant can spread the virus to others. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated recommendations for fully vaccinated people due to the Delta variant. Village Implements Mask Requirement Following CDC RecommendationsĮffective, Tuesday, August 10, the Village of Lemont is implementing a mask requirement for all employees and all persons that enter Village of Lemont municipal buildings, regardless of vaccination status. This includes the Village Hall, Police Department and Public Works buildings. Questions on application or enforcement of the mitigations can be directed to the Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH). Compliance and/or enforcement of the mitigation order will be the responsibility of the Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH).
